Co-sponsored by: GDGNH Could your next medical device run a smart OS? New health and fitness applications are becoming available for your Android phones and tablets every day. With the advent of modern UX, touch interfaces and smart devices, users are expecting their decades-old medical and health devices to catch up with technology as well. Today, when we see a display, we automatically want to interact with it using a touch interface and we expect the device to be smart, connected and aware. Now, Android is being used in medical devices, providing a rich User Interface which might have traditionally been built as an embedded device from scratch. It is time-consuming to re-invent the wheel and build a rich UI, connectivity and security system from scratch. Join us at the Alpha Loft in Manchester on Wed March 15th at 6 pm for a joint GDGNH and IEEE NH Computer Society event. Our speaker is Sarfraz Ahmad. Schedule: 6:00 - 6:30: Pizza and Networking. Thanks to our sponsor: Sunrise Labs. 6:30 - 6:40: Introduction by Baris Kazar, IEEE Computer Society. 6:40 - 7:30: Android as a Future Medical Platform - Sarfraz In this tech talk we will look at “How Android as a platform helps in solving those problems and reducing complexity and time to market”. The learning from this event can also be applied to areas outside the regulated medical device world. Sarfraz Ahmad is a software engineer with more than 12 years of experience in developing both Android applications and embedded devices for different verticals. For the past two years he has been developing software for medical devices, helping to blend technologies from other technology sectors into medical. Sarfraz will lead us through challenges and opportunities for building a medical device based on an Android hardware and software platform. This is a joint event for Google Developers Group New Hampshire and the IEEE Computer Society, NH section. Speaker(s): Sarfraz Ahmad, Agenda: 1. Pizza and Refreshments- Thanks to Sunrise Labs and IEEE Computer Society NH 2. Introduction by Dr. Baris Kazar of Oracle America Inc. and the IEEE Computer Society 2.
