Co-sponsored by: Maine Section This technical meeting will cover the three dimensions to DER deployment. 1. Accommodation of Increased DER Penetration: With the growing demand for Distributed Energy Resources (DER), technology platforms must accommodate the continual expansion and complexity of our systems. This presentation will cover topics such as renewable generation, storage, and demand response as well as how our technology is evolving. 2. DER Interconnection Studies: Interconnections of Distributed Energy Resources require compliance with IEEE 1547 and utility standards. This presentation will cover the basics of a system impact study for a DER interconnection into a distribution feeder. Topics will cover anti-islanding analysis, short circuit analysis, effective grounding, load flow, delta V, voltage flicker and interconnection design considerations. 3. Considerations for Distributed Generation Design: While distributed generation (DG) is by no means a new phenomenon, recent years have seen a marked increase in the penetration of non-utility sources either feeding the Grid directly or reducing the portion of energy purchased from traditional electric utilities. For example, as states implement various amounts of renewable portfolio standards (RPS), opportunities arise for independent producers to supply part of their energy needs and even supply energy to the electric utility market. This talk looks at some aspects of electic power system design that are required to accommodate DG in light of typical Utility interconnect requirements, including modeling tools, protective device options, and the IEEE-1547 standard for interoperability with the Grid. Speaker(s): Brian Conroy of Avangrid and Jon Gay of RLC Engineering, Rob Smith of Waldron Engineering and Construction Agenda: Agenda 12:00 p Lunch and Networking 12:10 p Presentation and Discussion: Accommodation of Increased DER Penetration 1:20 p 10 minute break 1:30 p Presentation and Discussion: DER Interconnection Studies 2: 40 p 10 minute break 2:50 p Presentation and Discussion: Considerations for Distributed Generation Design 4:00 p Adjourn Location: 71 Gurnet Rd Brunswick, Maine 04011 |

Co-sponsored by: katreagan82@gmail.com AR/VR Unity Architecture using Zenject Transitioning from a standard Object Oriented programming structure to the Component based models that work well with Unity can be challenging. I will help explain the open source dependency injection library Zenject (used by Pokemon Go) which helps keep a maintainable decoupled structure in Unity projects. I will end with an Augmented Reality demo with the Hololens using the components explained in the meeting. Speaker(s): Ms. Karissa Stisser (BAE Systems Corp.), Agenda: 1. Introduction of Speaker: Ms. Karissa Stisser 2. Talk 3. Q&A Location: Bldg: Pandora Building UNH Manchester Campus 88 commercial street Manchester, New Hampshire

Co-sponsored by: Kat Reagan Sometimes life gets hectic and engineering is typically a seditary job. We may remember to hit our books, read the news, or listen to that new Tech Ted Talk. But we believe that its also important to enjoy the sun and the summer. And while this isn't a typical IEEE meeting, we believe that networking through healthy activities should be part of being an Engineer. So we are hosting a Networking Through Kayaking! Were we can maybe meet new colleges while networking through rivers and lakes. Contoocook River Canoe Company Kayak Rentals are $24 - We are currently figuring out how to supliment the cost for IEEE members. More details in he near future. Bring friends and family. Host will bring some sandwiches to enjoy - tuna fish or peanut butter (assuming no one has peanut allergies). Email for details. Or bring your own lunch! Agenda: Times may fluctuate with what the group wants to do. 10am - Meet at Contoocook Riber Canoe Co 9 Horse Hill Rd Concord NH 03303. 10:30 - Pattle Up the River river (2 miles) to Daiy Beach. 12:00 - Enjoy Swimming and Picnicking at Daisy Beach (200 acre park). 1:00 - Head back down River. Location: 9 Horse Hill Rd Concord , New Hampshire 03303 |
