The IEEE recognizes members that show leadership in their field by raising such members to Senior Member status. To be recognized as a Senior Member, you must meet the following criteria: 1) Practicing in a technical field for 10 or more years 2) Show significant performance over a 5 year period 3) Get 3 references from other Senior Members At this meeting, you will get to meet Senior Members who are willing to be references. Additionally, the NH Section will provide you with one reference. This means that you would only need 2 more references to qualify. Please bring two copies of your resume or CV. You will need to be metched up with someone in your field, so please indicate your field whn you register (or simply email me the info). I will do my best to make sure there are enough senior members there for all disciplines of engineering. Location: Room: Large Meeting Room Nashua Public Library 2 Court Place Nashua, New Hampshire 03063

Co-sponsored by: NH IEEE Life Members Have you considered helping out at a STEM event at your local school, or for a regional event? There are plenty of opportunities and ways to get involved. These can include judging, presenting or support at single day events, or mentoring over a period of time. Events in NH that we hope to discuss include: the four levels of FIRST "robotics" programs (Raph Draper, Soon Wan, others?) VEX robotics (Ralph Draper) Young Inventors (Nita Patel, Mary Brzezenski, Ed Nelson) DI (Destination Imagination previously "OM") (Steve Gilvar, Jim Isaak) Science & Tech Expo Math Counts (Tom Perkins) TechFest (Don Sherwood, Ed Nelson, Soon Wan, etc.) Teacher in-service training (Don Sherwood) school Tech days (Jim Isaak, etc.) This is your opportunity to find out how the volunteer thing works from your IEEE peers who have participated in the past. Having just done the "Young Inventors" I found the opportunity to talk with these inspired k-12 kids was delightful ... hard to judge in some ways -- but easy to pass along words of encouragement and the recognition that may just be the boost one of these kids might need to get involved in technology/engineering in the future. Please join us and find out if it is something you might enjoy .... oh yes, we will have Pizza and drinks as well. Agenda: 5:30 -- get a slice of pizza or two and a drink 6 PM -- will have panelists introduce the STEM activities where they have been active 7 PM -- questions, answers, more pizza if it remains. Location: Room: 203 Bldg: SNHU Webster Hall 2598 N River Rd Hooksett, New Hampshire 03106

Co-sponsored by: Kat Reagan Have you ever wanted to dive into 3D printing? Or build a robot but lack the resources to start? Well, there is a growing community of hobbyist with manufacturing equipment and the interest to spread their knowledge. Makerspaces combine manufacturing equipment, community, and education for the purposes of enabling community members (Makers) to design, prototype and create manufactured works that wouldn’t be possible to create with the resources available to individuals working alone. We are lucky enough to have one in Nashua, MakeIt Labs! And IEEE WIE/YP invites you to take a tour in their space. MakeIt Labs provides members with the access to myriad of devices including 3D Printers, woodworking tools, metal fabrication and welding, laser printing, and much more! The also offer classes to the public! So come see what the Nashua Makers are all about! Location: 25 Crown St Nashua, New Hampshire 03060 |
