On a sunny July morning a group of IEEE members gathered at the Contoocook River Canoe Company for a fun day on the water. We took a shuttle 9 miles up the river and paddled back down the river.

The river flows pretty slowly through picturesque areas north and west of Concord, New Hampshire. There are swimming holes with rope swings and beaches along the way. Many of us stopped at one of the islands and cooled off in the water. Some played on the rope swing and some just rested for the second part of the trip.

We had a whole gamut of participants. College students, recent graduates, families and professionals of all ages. We also spanned a wide geographic area. WIE/YP invited members from region 1. People travelled as far as New York. We had some visitors from Massachusetts. Of course, NH was well represented with members from UNH and Dartmouth and surrounding areas as well as from the immediate Concord area.

We finished by having a picnic at the Contoocook River Canoe Company’s beach. After paddling for 9 miles everyone was hungry. Many new friendships were made and all had good time.
